Plastic surgery is a huge decision and lifelong commitment, usually. There are procedures in which you can reverse the surgery, but that is often more expensive than the initial procedure.
A popular alternative to “going under the knife” has been botox, a non-invasive procedure used to make the appearance of younger skin via liquid neurotoxin injected into the muscle used to treat frown lines, squint and smile lines, nasal crunch lines, and horizontal forehead wrinkles.
If you are considering botox, there are a few things you need to know.
Let’s look at Los Angeles as an example. A city plagued with beautiful people and celebrities can make even the most beautiful person feel mediocre at best and cause them to take measures into their own hands. Even if they don’t feel the need for complete reconstructive surgery, but they may feel the need for botox or something similar.
Now, since we are on the subject, there are a few myths regarding botox I’d like to address. Some good, some bad, but none ugly. For example, botox is GREAT for:
- Gummy smiles
- Frown Lines
- Lines around the eyes (commonly called crow’s feet)
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Nasal scrunch or squint lines
- Lines on neck
And requires very little recovery or even pain management when compared to something as dramatic as a face lift or liposuction.
On the contrary, there are some downsides that need to be considered. While they are incredibly minimal, they should still be taken into consideration. For example, a popular place for botox is the forehead due to lines and unwanted wrinkles. The issue? Something called “the frozen forehead” can take over, stifling any chance of expression via your forehead. Another popular area are the eyelid and eyebrow area, which can sometimes yield the result of “popping-eyebrow” or “drooping eyelid.” (For the record, I did not make up these names.)
In conclusion, if you do decide on the procedure, there will always be risk with the outcome. The best way to avoid “frozen forehead”? Find a licensed and experience botox beautician in your area and don’t settle for anything less than flawless.
